Libertas Vox Poem by John Fenton Mcleish

Libertas Vox

Why must I suffer persecution
For are these words a threat to your power
How weak must be your constitution
Do you expect me to run and cower

Do you want me to spin and falsify
To suit your political agenda
If to be accepted I must so lie
Then I'd just be another pretender

What I see and feel is all that I know
In good or bad I am not one to judge
I will not serve evil, I will not kow tow
No matter how much you threaten or begrudge

Do what you will and do as you must
But I'll never submit this you can trust
