Li Bai's Leaving Baidi Town Early 李白 兩岸猿聲啼不住 輕舟已過萬重山

Leaving Baidi Town Early
- Li Bai (Tang Dynasty)
- Translated by Frank C Yue

I left Baidi by
The light of coloured clouds in the morning,
At day's end, I arrived
At hundreds-miles-away Jiangling.

On both banks atop the cliffs
The gibbons ceaselessly cried;
Downstream, my light skiff
Has glided by ten-thousand-folds of the mountain-sides.

Another version polished up by my mentor, Andrew W.F. Wong 黃宏發 - (thx andrew!)

In the midst of clouds all glowing, Baidi, I left you at dawn,
By evening I'll be home at Jiangling, a thousand miles I've gone.
While on cliffs of the Yangzie Gorges, gibbons ceaselessly cry,
Ten thousand folds of mountains, my skiff has slipped them by.
