ZENG MENG HAORAN: For Meng Haoran
-- by Li Bai (701--762)
-- Translated by Frank C Yue

O, How I love you, Master Meng --
Your grac'ous talents, charms renown!
In youth, on Official Gown you frown'd;
White-head'd, 'midst pines and clouds you're found.

Beneath the Moon you're drunk often,
Charmed by flowers, than serving th' Sovereign.
Your Virtues high as the mountains --
To you I bow, Fragrant Fountain.
