Let the babies sleep peacefully
Do not wake them up to death.
We may be angry or hungry.
Do not show that perilous nature to kids
Let them have their own world of bliss.
Do not clip their wings with our prejudiced discipline.
Let us sing for them lullabies of merriment,
Not the expletives from our dark minds.
Let them drink the milk of human kindness
Not the residue of quarter glass.
Let them always be happy;
though our situation is otherwise.
Let us choke them with love
Not with some overzealous dietary habits.
Let them walk with us to righteousness.
Let their baby steps be on the smoothness of life way
Not on the rough patches of life.
Let them see the bright stars, milky moon,
The first rays of rising sun, splash of rivulets,
And the soft tide of peaceful oceans.
Let us nurse them to growth
Do not pluck them to destruction
Children belong to Jesus,
We are just custodians,
So protect and nurture them to life.
