Went to a family barbeque tonight
Politics, off seasonal rhetoric
Carefully tucked out of earshot and sight
Religion? Anyone? Let's keep it calm in light
Of the chilly weather that's been hovering
But, just so you know
I understand and know very well
How these singles and couples flow
It's okay, I have no plans to marry
Even the slightest pro T-word supporter
Has me backing out of the conversation
It's a fun barbeque, wanna keep down my food
So I don't say my friends, almost half of them
Roll in a different way
Too paper thin in theory
It's convoluted theories... bouncing
Off the wall
Lies as it unravels, useless, scented
What's that scent? Smell a rat, anyone?
I'm over it, they roll under
I should have known
Democracy thrown, under the bus
Not my type of festivities or tp
They're still family
My friends are still my friends
Some have left
As their opinions discarded the truth
To the core of a relationship
Due to destructive information gathering
Dishearteningly true
Truth will prevail
It shall!
Always will
In the end.
To be continued...
