Let's Pray Poem by Juwan David

Let's Pray

I prefer girls with bright futures
But God the benevolent,
In his infinite mercy wouldn't bless me with one
Except those with overwhelming pasts.

I've become like Jacob who wanted one but was given another!
Like moses who never made it to the promised lands.

So I changed my preferences, through the act of redemption!
And come in solitude humility, that your will be done
God!
Lest I end like Ahaziah.

For what matters tonight is not the past nor the future but the gate between the two paths that leads to the
Heavens and hell!

By your grace God, I shall make it to Zion tonight

My guardian angel shall shout my name aloud and sing praises of me.

I shall be welcomed a faithful servant....

Amen
