promise has accomponied with strong feeling of responsibility toward anoyher agent. like a soldier pledge his\her life for the sake of his\her country. there is definitely soul of patriotism and responsibility of such allegiance that cause this promise. i admire your poem. thanks dear Anne.
Your poem starts with such a simple, clearly stated suggestion, but immediately there is a problem in communication. I think the other person is not ready to map out the future which is what a promise: it happens in the present but it projects into the future, It means the two of you have a fixed appointment with your future selves. And it seems the other person isn't ready for that yet. But, if I'm reading the closing right, he does comply. You're asking him to seize the moment before it vanishes forever. I do hope he sees this is what he should do, des[ite misgivings - GO FOR IT, as we say in American English.
