Let Me Evolve (Part 3) Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

Let Me Evolve (Part 3)

Rating: 5.0

Let me evolve my system naturally
Ideal with my unique culture
Let the skyscrapers not suffocate my expanding huts
The red earth is my blood
The aroma, my taste and hunger killer
Let your tarred roads not mock my rough earth
Where I stagger for strength
And my roaming pets drink in stagnant pools

Your snow can not quench my sun
Which bake my bread in photosynthesis
Nay, never, just let me evolve
With my being
And the pupa will emerge
From the cocoon
At the fullness of time
