There is a certain prejudice when lives are lost in a sensational fashion and therefore publicized because the media has a story.400,000 Syrians have died because of the empty suit leader in America that stood by and allowed this to happen as he abandoned Iraq. Leaving a vacuum filled now by savage sub-human beings. This business of shining a light on an event because it fits a narrative is for the small minds easily led. South Africa is now by far worse than ever with rapes and murder and injustice but the Hollywood stars do not care because it is black on black crime and corruption and yet all blood is red. Terrorism is met with indifference until certain people die and then sadness sets in. I should hope that I never become so blind. Your poem should be for humanity. The people of Paris and Orlando gain attention but not the people of Fallujah or the daily dead in the streets of Chicago.
Thanku Edmund for your wise remarks. This poem is for all humanity written in the context of a particular incident.
I hope you understand that I did not mean this as a criticism of you at all. I wrote poems myself when Paris was attacked. We in America are watching our nation implode and political correctness is its death rattle......................your poem is an eloquent prayer for peace at a time when we need it the most. Written without dramatics. Neither over or understated. Your voice must be heard. Beautiful.
I dont mind constructive criticism at all Edmund. Your observations are quite right n im glad you made these objective comments. Our concern is all mankind regardless of race, religion or nationality.
Aameen......Masha Allah...let them all come to the straight path and follow it with love and mutual respect even with so many differences. Loved it...100+++
For all of humankind to continue existing, we must learn to love everyone equally
Yeah Nosheen, Very noble thoughts coming from a very noble penn. Let love spread its branches /to displace bigotry and intolerance. Elegantly worded to convey that there is more to done than raising our hands to heavens. Well done Nosheen.
Against the backdrop of Orlando carnage, you have rightly pointed out the need to check the march of mindless violence all over the world which means killing of unarmed innocent people. There's a need for love to grow to displace bigotry and intolerance.
Beautiful penning, wonderful thoughts, totally agree! May love grow and spread!
Nice thoughts. I lived in Orlando many years ago and have relatives there. It is a beautiful and tolerant city which makes the tragedy even more terrible in my mind. Various groups blame guns, mental illness or terrorism. I blame all three and also politicians, media pundits, and all individuals who foment hate with their rhetoric.
Thank u Barry. We all are outraged by this senseless act of violence. Yes, i agree that media n politicians and religious authorities need to realize their role in bringing us to this state of affairs.
A brilliant poem...liked the humble expression!
