Let Go Poem by Kishore Kumar Das

Let Go

Look at the tree
the hanging fruits
turning ripe
the tree sheds them
no longer needed
they fall on the earth
by default
with natural force
no plucking
no intervention.
In a similar fashion
a human being
can shed
emotional bitterness
anxious worries
troubling thoughts
imaginary fear
in a natural way
that is the secret of
'let go' technique...
'Let go' is
a willingness in the mind
a self-illumination
a self-enlightenment
the choice is yours
unhappiness is only your reaction
to the situation
and happiness is
letting go
of your ideas about happiness.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Let Go is an excellent poem about the power we do have over our lives. While it is true that outside forces are not under our control, our reactions to them are. I don't think I would refuse to feel emotions but I would think putting up boundaries that would limit the extent of my anger, or my bitterness, or my feeling of victory would be a healthy thing to do. Well done!
