Lessons Poem by Caroline Bulleck

Lessons

I spoke with my past yesterday.
We discussed the changes we had,
And how it brought me to today.
For those who loved me, I'm glad,
For I knew what it was to belong.
Thank you to those who rejected me.
I learned when love was wrong.
For those who built me up, I'm happy.
You taught me to stand proud and tall.
I'm thankful for those who tore me apart.
You taught me how to rise from a fall.
Thanks to those who were honest from the start.
You showed me that there still exists trust.
Thank you to those who lied to my face.
You taught me to discern just from unjust.
Yesterday is gone but the lesson stays.
