Why do people choose to fight,
When peace is softer, warm, and bright?
Why raise a fist, a voice, a wall,
When listening could heal it all?
We share the same sky, air, and ground,
The same heartache, the same hope found.
Yet fear builds lines where none should be,
And turns "us all" into "you" and "me."
If we paused to see ourselves inside
The other's pain we try to hide,
Perhaps we'd learn we all belong—
And peace was here with us all along.
I thought that it was insightful how you said 'Yet fear builds lines where none should be, And turns 'us all' into 'you' and 'me.''
A masterpiece! A wonderfully composed treatise for peace! Indeed, why can't people just love peace?
A very insightful and inspiring poem. Well expressed.
