Made a revisit today.Enjoyed reading this beautiful poem once again. And rendered my eyes moist, as I was reminded of my mother who used tell me a million stories from the Indian Myths, the Greek myths, the Panchatantra, the Kathaasaritsagara and whatnot.

A wonderful poem on mothers and their influence. It gave me fond memories of my own mother, who could sing like a bird. Thanks for posting this! Five stars!

Continued: .......So many similarities between you and me, Dr. Geeta. That rebel soul, constantly wandering. Such a wonderful feel to know how much your Mother wished you to be as you are now! Such a strong love bond between mother-daughter. Mesmerizing, Dr. Geeta. Thank you so much for sharing this precious story poem. A Full 10 Score

WOW! This poem touches my very being, so passionately told how your dear Mother is still nearest to you through this most beautiful lamp beautifully carved. How a wise mother is she to give you this precious lamp. Each time you put it on, Mother appears in your thoughts and the rest. All the stories she told you in your early years, make the person as you are now.

This is unbelievably captivating- A leaf from your childhood days. It brings out so many things in one go- your love of nature, minute observation of flora and fauna, mother - daughter relationship. Thanks, Geeta ji.

hi, geeta! this is my first time reading this that i can remember, and it's a charming piece. i can't think of a close parallel in my own life; i like that the red bird has the dual qualities of guardian and disciplinarian. you probably know that jesus asserts to his disciples that angels watch over children. hoping this finds you well, glen

Hello Glen, Just wondered how i did not reply to this comment. These are true episodes of life sharply etched in my memory. Yes, the red bird has dual qualities of a guardian, just like the angels watching over children. This is the way my beloved Mother taught me. Thank you for this charming comment as well, Glen

Dang it, you put tears in my eyes! Your Mother was such a good mother, wasn't she? And she lives in you as surely as you live and breathe. She had a lot of wisdom, this beautiful Mother of yours. She didn't tame you- -she was wise enough to let you tame yourself to the degree you needed taming- no more, no less. Now when I see a red bird, I will think of your Mother and you, her beloved daughter. This was a warm and loving write and I am putting it on my fav list so I can read it again and get tears in my eyes. 10+++++++++++++
