Leaf Life Clinging To Life: A Season Death Refusing Poem by Terence George Craddock

Leaf Life Clinging To Life: A Season Death Refusing

loved the simplicity of sweet autumn rhythms
loved the fall struggle of season leaf life battles
loved change of seasons flutter falling leaves
loved trees retiring limb dormant bare branches

in an old movie where a young woman was dying
she thought she would die when the last leaf fell
from the winter vine bare clinging to a brick wall
but an artist painted last leaf back on after its falling

in the night alone in dark storm night an artist painting
painted the last lost leaf back onto a brick wall illusion
onto vine from which the last leaf fell a vine death knell

in cold morning despite a snow storm last leaf still clinging
to the brick wall gave hope belief in life to a woman dying
a moral parable with grit character death rebuking defeating
