At dawn the sky alone is occupied and we feel God's art. This has great imagery and this is rich poem with perception of face of ice.

You are right-the dawn is a special time of day because off the change from night to day. Also it is logical to link the sky to thoughts about God. A fine observation.

Walking down Princes Street you have understood life very beautifully and you have expressed this nicely here.

Auckland University is in Princes Street and I studied there 1963-1968. I took French, English, German, History. So I can just picture his walk down Princes Street.

Definitely ice has its own face. It strengthens and it melts. Light it holds in reflective surface. We love such ice in perception and beauty.

I think that Bill Manhire uses ice as a symbol of any kind of coldness, not just literal ice. You perceive well the depths of this poem.

Beyond this creation we feel God's presence and we wonder die to his art. A woman carries motherhood and this art is given by God.
