Late August Musings: (August 27th,2021)

Twilight has arrived.
Soft breezes blow so gently
Across my garden.
The sounds of evening
Traffic are slowly ceasing.
It is now late August and
Summer is weary
It is leaning on autumn.
I think of old friends
Long gone, & all the sweet songs,
Of the past. Yet I
Must face the blue shades & hues
Of an uncertain
Future from which there is no
Escape. The treadmill
Of days, I guess, will never
Cease. Only I can
Change habitual patterns
By focusing on
What is really important
And ignoring all
The trivial distractions.
Via poetry
And art I can always hope
To disturb the grey
Complacency of mundane
Hours. I always seem
To hear the old clock ticking,
And I don't want to
Waste any more rich moments.
