I was a full day dead and quite content
My last word and testament has been sent
I lay in my coffin as they passed me by
They walked past in silence, never asking Why?

Darla, Long years were past and everything done...............passed or past; THAT is the question! Those still here are have a younger zest.........did i miss here are have the first time? No child in slumber could be more content Quite content that my life was well spent ................YES! content is the word i use instead of happy when i think about most of my life then and now. sometimes [rarely] i wake in the morning feeling so comfortable that i wish i could stay that way forever and i think of it as the way i hope death feels, IF it feels at all. it's as though my mind is awake but my body is not. death is a refuge from human problems! LONG LIVE SUICIDE! truly, if it is for a person's good. bri :)

We all will have to go some day, but a well spent life should have no regret! Thanks for sharing, Darlene!

I real have got a tear in my eye, I felt peace and content everywhere. I read the comments and I can say you pleased us all with what you have written. I wish from Allah when that day comes, may Allah forgive you and your soul rests in Heaven with your family, friends and lovers :) Have a nice life, and I'm pleased with what I read :)

this comment shall also go as part of one of my comments on my A Showcase For PH Poets (February 2015 edition) , which displays this and over 15 more nice poems on my site under one poem name (aforementioned!) . They walked past in silence, never asking Why? ............if anyone asked ME why is Darlene lying in her coffin? , i'd just tell her or him she's dead, Stupid! i'm SURE i've written a comment on this before, but i don't know where it is, so i'll continue. i'm loving this poem for what it SAYS and for how it is SAID! ! ! very nicely done. great rhyming! one of my favorite stanzas is: It is time to go with no regret I leave behind not a single debt It's been a full day since my last breath Now for my last trip to the land of death.......if i haven't already, i'll send to MyPoemList. : bri :)

dear darlene, i'm ready to go NOW! send the box over; please use the postal service! if they lose the box AFTER i'm in it, that is OK! ! i sent yours poem to its final resting places: MyPoemList AND my site's poem: A Showcase For PH Poets (February's showcase) . you got it in under the wire, though the wire is flexible. if you have a shorter one (not much longer than 12 lines) i can get that in this month or in March. my favorite lines: It's been a full day since my last breath Now for my last trip to the land of death..... [you probably thought the breast line would be my favorite.] check this out and tell me if you want me to change it in the showcase copy: Those still here are have a younger zest nice rhyming. really nice poem. don't have TOO MANY children and gc, ggc, and gggc, please. the world is pretty strained as it is. bri :)

My soul is at rest like a cool summer day The last heat of life has gone away Passion's twilight has come to rest Like a mountain spring washing my breast A poem of sorrows and content on completion of transitory worldly journey.A blessing in disguise.A well written poem which deserves 10 out 0f 10. They carry my coffin to my earthly home And sprinkle on my lid rich dark loam No child in slumber could be more content Quite content that my life was well spent , , , a beauiful ending, , , a peaceful death is what everone would wish to get, , , , but are we walking on that path, , where when we reach our end and look back on our life, , would we we be at peace, , most of us would not be, ,

Hello poet Darla What an awesome poem and so well written, almost as if a person lying in the coffin composed it. Well done! Loyd
