Language Of The Trees Poem by Kingsley Egbukole

Language Of The Trees

Rating: 5.0

Living things classified
Neither walk nor play
Speak not in mortal's eyes
In obedience to supreme nature

But walk and play they do
Speak also they do
In the eyes of rare mortals
Who care to strain their eyes and ears

Ask the wind that blows high and low
The sun that shines soft and scorching
How the trees walk and play
In the station of the sun
And speak to the pressure of air
When the wind threatens a fight

Ask the hewer who disturbs the ecosystem
The moans of gigantic trees
As the sway in resistance
And the roaring cries
As they crash to mother earth

Ask the waters in the deep
The response of trees to its pull of life

Ask the fierce fire
The hisses spitting of aggrieved ones

Regal of the forest yet calm
Like the anointed in spirit and white
Canonically silent in reverence
Yet their voices are heard without a sound.

How true Kingsley. A great poet you are. This site is horribly designed and getting less user friendly. I can't find poets, current postings,
