Lake placid! You've conjured up a perfect image of a country escape - using loads of tricks to transport the reader there. All very cleverly constructed Linda. An ejoyable, relaxing and very poetic read. xx jim
BREAKS THE HAZY COFFEE DREAM...NOW WHY CAN'T I MIND IMAGES LIKE THAT? ! EXCELLENT PIECE, LINDA...IF YOU STOP WRITING AGAIN, I'LL FIND A WAY TO MAKE YOU PAY! STELLAR USE OF FINE, METICULOUS IMAGERY...SPLENDID CRAFTSMANSHIP FROM OPENING TO CLOSE-OUT..I LOVE IT......K E E P W R I T I N G ! ! ! ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''FRANK
Linda, you have kindly assaulted the senses here. You have projected envious visions.
How well you evoke that slightly woozy calm of a Lake in the morning. It brought back memories of a holiday to Lake Garda in Italy. So vivid, every detail is covered.
Now you have me reminiscing about all those summer mornings on Lake Couchiching and Rice Lake. Haven't been to either in over 15 years, but one can daydream. Linda, you have beautifully captured the idyllic scene with your well-chosen words. Line 4 of stanza 1 should be pristine, and line 1 of the last stanza should be sailor. Hope you don't mind my pointing out these misspellings.
What a beautiful depiction of a lazy summer lake house morning. It transports you to that world. Thanks for sharing!
You have captured the ease and restfulness of 'holiday' in this slow moving, expansive poem that should be read slowly - savored in order to bring out its early morning coffee flavor. We all need a place like this to get away sometimes. Enchanting read. love, Allie ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
