Ladybird Poem by Sylvia Frances Chan

Ladybird

Rating: 4.7

Ladybird

in my backyard,
I found a ladybug
a tiny insect I don't really hug,

Its name is also ladybird,
to play with it?
It's absurd!
too small an insect

but the colour and shape are perfect
I watched it creeping in my hedge,
it reminds me of my aquarelles sketch

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
For Vinhie 4 years old to 'read' this by himself, simple rhyming verses he reads already, he started to read at a very early age and when he was a toddler he recited his own story in the class, about the mouse and the croc, as a grandma I am glad to know that he wanted all these himself, like handling a balloon now, so that the air stays in the balloon filled with water, he did not tell anyone, since it was before bedtime, his daddy asked him who had done that? His dady knew that Vinhie had done that, because there was no one else in the bathroom, his daddy was busy preparing milk in the bottle for his younger brother, before sleep, his younger has the habit to drink on his own milk from a bottle after having been in bath, so his Daddy was busy with his youngest son and was in the kitchen and their Mamma was not yet home from her work.

Ladybird beetles are very beneficial insects. Children should be taught never to harm them.
