L.M. Montgomery's Anne Of Green Gables And The Inevitable Reference To Me

L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables and the inevitable reference to me
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
I shall begin by saying that thus far
I have read only 101 pages of this Canadian classic
It is a child's tale and makes for interesting reading
An unfortunate child runs into a piece of good fortune
In the sense she finally finds caring people to raise her;

It has been made by CBC and at this time
I feel it would be best if I were to list beautiful imagery
The author says sunshine seemed too dancing and irresponsible a thing
For a world which was meant to be taken seriously;

She has written: "The little birds sang as if it were
The one day of summer in all the year"
That is with such whole hearted passion,
Anne of Green Gables asks the question:
Which would you be if you had the choice - divinely beautiful
Or dazzlingly clever or angelically good;

"Gossamers glimmered like threads of silver among the trees
And the fir boughs and tassels seemed to like friendly speech"
Which is one of the beautiful descriptive lines used
And Anne also asks if amethysts can be the souls of good violets
For she used to think that diamonds were like amethysts;

I shall continue in the vein of William Shakespeare in his play, As You Like It:
It was a husband and his wife and their son
With a hey, and a ho, and a hey nonino
That across the long freeways did pass
In the summer-time, the only pretty ring-time
When birds do sing, hey ding a ding ding
Sweet lovers love the spring and summer
And therefore take the present time
With a hey, and a ho, and a hey nonino
For love is crowned with the prime
In summertime, etc;

To my husband, I say: If there be truth in sight,
You are my beloved husband
To my son, I say: If there be truth in sight,
You are my beloved son
If sight and shape be true,
Why then, my love, you are my heart's desire;

Now, I continue further if Providence wills it, in William Shakespeare's style used in his play, Love's Labour's Lost
Good husband, my virtue, though but mean (mean = of specified importance (Oxford English Dictionary))
Needs not the acknowledgement of yourself
If "beauty is the lover's gift" AND
"beauty is bought by the judgement of the eye"
Virtue is declared true despite its imperfections;

If you, my husband, have as much love in your heart
"As that exists as love in rhyme
As would be crammed up in a sheet of paper
Writ on both sides, the leaf, margin and all"
I would wish you to sign with Cupid's name and Eros's heart
I would describe our family of three with:
"Taffeta phrases, silken terms precise
Three piled hyperboles", loving affection,
"Figures pedantical" and say:
My dearest family, my love to thee is pure as the winter snow and
Warm as the summer's day
And beautiful as the spring air
And colourful as the autumn's breath.
