By LIU-Yong Translated by East Sea Fairy
When killing time at the window
I find the moonlight on the frosted ground frosty
So I draw the curtain and blow,
blow, blow, blow out the candlelight softly.
Recollecting the past repeatedly
with sorrow and sadness, I feel distressed quite.
Sitting in meditation speechlessly
On such a sunny day with such a superb and splendid sight
I can't find a single flash of delight.
I never won your grace,
when I was with you in the past.
Now the space
between you and me is wide and vast.
Since your departure, so many years have passed.
If we have a chance to reunite,
Would you, as ever before, love me tender and hold me fast?
Thinking of the bygone quarrel and fight,
I feel rather rueful and regretful on such a long and dreary night.
