If we can convert our enemy into a friend, then it is a great achievement. A sublime poem that deserves top stars.

Wow! Not easy to forget this poem, you use such words, many of us fear and dislike for the pain they brought, but managed to reverse attach kindness and put them in a brighter light. Excellent read, thank youfor share!

This is such a terrible amazing poem. This reminds me of the Good Samaritan from Luke 10: 33. Of course noy exactly, but while reading this impressing poem, my thoughts go back to that parable. I have enjoyed this amazing poem a very lot. Such a smartness to create a poem in this way. A TEN well deserved, Richard! With best regards, sincerely Sylvia Frances Chan, dutch poetess in the english language.

So let me get this straight.. you are now going to try to reach Poemlist and tell them that it is all right to steal from you because you love them so. And they will fall down with overpowering thankfulness that you are able to forgive them so fully. I am afraid I will have to watch this with suppressed humour. Ostracism might be an alternative with less requirement for superhuman patience. I am not necessarily a bad person but I do have reservations.

Wes, I'm sorry, but I have no idea how you've come to this conclusion.

when I was a little schoolboy my teacher told me she had never met such a sceptical little boy in her life. I told her she had not met my older brother and sister.

Outstanding poem to be kind to your enemies and allow them into your life and treat them with respect and become their friend is an act of great generosity of spirit, a token of God's love to save your enemies from their own destruction!

To be cruel to cruel is not killing the cruelty, killing cruel by kindness is a eternal remedy....when love is the power, why hate to create more disaster...but is it love is easy to do, or hate is? i wonder what our society make its choice now...wonderful write Richard :)

Exquisite crafted, thought provoking and life reaffirming, you've taken the old adage kill them with kindness, and crafted a modern biblical passage of sincere depth. It is hard to escape the animal bondage of anger and rage, and rise above to enlightened spiritual being. This is one of those works that is affirmative of what a person could be and rise above the muck of human cruelty. I would like to think these words would transform me, but if I read this again and again perhaps it will impart the peace that one needs. Not just a poem, but a meditation for the need of love. Breath taken

Beautiful portrayal of the central tenets of most religions, which is Love. Nothing on Earth softens the human heart as much as compassion and kindness. Of course the divinely ordained duty of the heart is to love. Lovely and insightful. Thanks for sharing Richard.

The best way to kill an enemy is by loving him! Then he becomes so powerless to direct his wrath against you! His anger and bitterness will melt like ice and with what vengeance he hated you, with the same vengeance, he will begin to love you! It is the magic of love! If you can practice this forgiving love, you are a level higher than the noble minds! A beautiful poem with an inspiring message!
