Kiev In Honied Sunlight

oh God, make time rewind to Kiev in honied sunlight

golden as a tower, a dome

to Russia in accustomed Spring

no drafts into hell

oh Lord you have said please say again that all,

all manner of things shall be well.

A second spring approaches

why must the young go down to death

the old men and brave

with flowers budding

the birds again flocking

the shells about to slay

why, how can it be this way

still the sound of rockets

of death machines for the strays

renew your rainbow covenants with the orphans

let heavy grief run away oh how how should it be

still, this brutal history

again we kneel before your gates

no longer that modern and on our way

oh let the miraculous come to stay

we give you our hearts and forever.

how much more can we say

in this Spring weather.
