Kerouac's Lifelong Prayer Poem by Richard Wlodarski

Kerouac's Lifelong Prayer

Rating: 5.0

In such a brief time
To know for long time
To see eyes of soul
And thank God for Goal

In such short space
Beyond this place
Now experience
Such damn tenderness

I thank God
For this life
My eyes to see
His great beauty

To thank God
For my life
Ears hearing
Such melancholy

May thank God
Smellin' love
For this life
Where there's death

I thank God
For the Good
Childhood
Adulthood

Time for We
Thank One God

Dillip, I'm so very happy that you've added this Kerouac poem of mine to your favourites. Just like Daniel Brick, you too can see its importance! THX so very much.

It will take a lifetime of joy and sorrow to complete this prayer. It is a blueprint if a life of dedication to moral/spiritual growth. And the very concept of a blueprint shows us the Kerouac you/we admire knew how difficult the goal is but also how worthy of our efforts. I can see this poem framing your Kerouac collection, or concluding your introductory words. This poem is very important to me: It has opened wide a window into a common soul you and Kerouac embody.
