If one keeps the fire burning within, one can't quench one's thirst for knowledge with just dips in the ocean of knowledge. Getting drowned will not help. So one should sink deep to bring out pearls. The theme of the poem is wonderful. Wavering while elaborating the theme is not found anywhere. Best wishes!
