And the son of an eye specialist
Was a journalist
Who was a visitor
Of the Pondicherry Ashrama first

And then a frequenter frequenting it
To be an inmate, an ashramite,
A shisya of Aurobindo and Mira Alfassa
To the founding of Mother India
As its editor

A learner of Integral Yoga,
Occult mysteries,
Spiritual experiences,
He was a sadhka, a yogi,
A mystic intellectual

He was a critic, a letter writer,
A poet, a commentator,
A philosopher
Better known as Amal Kiran
