Hi Evelyn and Varsha, I feel immensely happy that Evelyn could enjoy the poem and the Kathakali music and the pic I have posted here.
I very much enjoyed this beautifully presented poem. A wonderful picture and audio, too! It's in my Favorites.
This is really beautiful...i never thought Kathakali can be donned do well abd painted such expressively...this is stupendous.
It gives me great pleasure to know that you enjoyed the poem
Yaami yaami bhaimi........aalakmpadiyode melavaadyaghoshathode..... rings in my ears as Sudevan dances in almost a hundred different styles before Damayanti in sheer abandon. That was a night well spent under the stars in the Shivaratri night frost of my home village. Thanks for evoking such wonderful nostalgia in me (10) .
You have given a beautiful definition to one of the most popular Indian Classical dance forms where acting is equally important !
Thank you for adding the music- that was an awesome idea of yours and a treat for your readers/listeners!
Thank you Susan. I wanted to add a video too. But the site does not provide adequate space. I amm trying...
Namaskaram to you and the great maestro Haider Ali. i have had the luck to listen to his soulful voice many times. Thank you for sharing his music with the Poem hunter poets.
The lines and audio made a feel of seeing kathakali....! ! so nice... I just remembered the movements with hands and eyes that got familiar from movie.
Farisa, Thank you for the good words. But, have you heard Hiaderaali earlier? He enriched the Kathakali music by his inimitable rendition of the raagas with exemplary manodharma, and such accurate pronunciation of the most difficult Malayalam and Sanskrit words. He simply proved by his music that music is much above, religion, caste, creed, color and language. I worship him.
No.it's first time i heard his audio. respect for the devotional artist.
Art is universal expression of self with a beautiful soul compassion, I believe it has no caste, creed, or community this is an examplery note, thank you dear poet for the share it's magical
Hi Saraswathy, How true! Haideraali is one person who proved it, against all odds! Thank you for the comment. I am obliged.
Wowwww...this is classy art. An excellent rendition of poetry in musical form. Your words give an apt picture of Kathakali music. A natural fusion of words and music. Great listening and reading.10 plus!
Thank you Nosheen. Actually, I tried to post a small video clipping too, so that you could enjoy the dance too. But system does not permit. I will try again.
Beautifullllllllllllllllllll I can visualise the gracefulness of this form of dance and how beautifully words danced to the tune of your pen captivating the hearts of the readers....Awesome artful poetry.100 plusss.
Hi Aarzoo, Please listen to the recital of Kathakali Sangeetam by Late Shri Kalaamandalam Haideraali, one of the renowned exponents of Kathakali music. The most important thing about Sh Haideraali is that, he is a Muslim and Kathakali is essentially a Hindu ritualistic dance-music performance. And to learn the Kathakali music, you have to learn Sanskrit. Sh Haideraali excelled in all these and earned respect from the most devout hindus. Pl listen to the music and write back.
Poet Amber Piercy has added this poem to her favourites. Thank You.
