Karma - A Sonnet (2019) Poem by Richard St. Clair

Karma - A Sonnet (2019)

Yes, my empowerment came with disclosure:
A legacy of betrayal and cruelty:
For years, yes decades, what a karmic fee
To pay until the daylight of exposure.
Stunned, that after many years of healing
I must take a raft of daily pills
To enjoy the panoramic distant hills,
While slowly comes my deepest scars' annealing.
Karma gives and takes, some good, some bad,
It's something I can't ever understand
While suffering I tread samsaric land
Until my debt is paid, an outcome glad.
A buddha I shall be when comes my time
To shelve and to forget this gloomy rhyme.
