Kami And Bachi Poem by sydney conteh

Kami And Bachi

Kami definition: Noun god; deity; divinity; spirit.
Bachi noun: (divine) punishment; curse; retribution
bachi ga ataru: something bad will happen to you if your actions are malicious

It looks like me, but it is not
The same face moulded into something I don't even recognise
The mirror labels me kami
As I am divine in my best days
Treating my words as if they were medicine
Choosing to heal people
Choosing to heal myself
kami
Demon resides within
Some times
Most times
All the time I say
I say bachi ga ataru and
Predict the future and perform my own bachi
I leave this body in ruins just to
make it look like the distorted view of myself

Kami are also kind
so I end up putting myself back together
While the voices in my head are saying
you are due a bachi
you are due a bachi
you are due a bachi
I say no
I will decide to let my divine shine
