..............
Marty O'Milly just told me today
He's packing his things,
And he's running away.
He's heard of an island
Not too far from here
Where the marmalade mangoes
Taste just like Root Beer!
Where there are no mosquitoes,
No crickets, no fleas,
And where Popsicle Bugs
Nest in all the tall trees.
Where the morning's are calm,
And the blue grass is green.
Where the water is crisp
And cool and clean.
Where you can peaceably rest
Right there under the sky~
And count every star,
That you see drifting by.
Where there's never a
Grown-up pretending they care,
With their 'I'm the Boss' noses
Stuck high in the air.
Where the river is wide,
And the fishing is free.
Where the sky is as blue
As the sky wants to be.
Where you can't hear the traffic
All bluster and boom,
And where nobody ever
Gets sent to their room.
Marty O'Milly just told me today
He's packing his things,
And he's running away.
But I've chores that must
Be done, and soon.
And no time left for play.
Not to mention homework.
So I have to stay.

Great poem, Richard! Tell me where that island is! I would like to go there!
