Just A Second Poem by Thomas McKelvey

Just A Second

it starts
the second I wake
without you

the emptiness of morning
followed by every minute
counting away from all the last times

each minute, accumulating
into a mountain on my heart

that moment, etched into my skin
and the next, burying it

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
