Junk Food, Anyone? Poem by ER Bron Chiong, RSW

Junk Food, Anyone?

what's that craze in today's busy world
the time for instant food to be in such a race
gives us much insufficient energy of some sort
for a brief period in a little kiosk to place an order
as fast as we can consumed in a short while

faves like deliciously flavored ice cream
dark chocolates, donuts and French fries
fried chicken, spicy pizzas, candies and cakes
too much of anything is considered very bad
ask the nutritionists why label these 'junk'

will you stop for a while and digest this simple truth
what do you want to do now with your own life
are you delighted to give in to your endless desires
or stay contented and satisfied with a smile on your face
and why do you wonder what this might be all about

worry not as long as one is indeed pleased
the food prepared on the long table for us to eat
strange, but exotic and grand culinary dishes of all kinds
that gratifies our starving tummies and palates with glee
from early forefathers to the present millennial kids

bear this in mind my health-conscious friends
it's your decision to make this an exciting life
eat as you prefer as long as you're fulfilled
with style, dignity, respect and love to cherish
once is never enough for our hungry souls
