Soran, Part Two. , How could they or any of us Christians justify an opinion or an action that is so opposed to what Jesus held? . Somewhere therein is the key to understanding Thank you Soran for always giving me and other poets the freedom to delve into the topics that puzzle us as well as the topics that encourage us and then [YIKES! ! ! ] there are those topics that anger us.

Soran- Love your comments! Part One. Judas- that is a person that puzzles me deeply and I do not know why. There are multitudes of Christians [professed followers of Christ] who throughout history have shown that they had not known Jesus. Had they known him, how could they buy other people and make them slaves, how could they come to a new country and murder those peoples who already live there and take their land from them

Dennis, that was an interesting attack. Actually you should read Valsa's comment below. She understood the poem- -she has a brilliant record in PH of delving into others' poetry and doing so. Sometimes and actually most of the times it is best to not bring preconceived ideas to the reading of a stranger's poem if, of course, one is interested in what others are saying.

We will always ask you why While we too deny, turn away, choose Barabbas And do we not betray Him when we reject Him When we do not love our fellow man

At the beginning of her poem, the poet asks " Judas Who Were You? " We have to look for the answer from the angle of the poet’s vision and then compare it with our perception and understanding. It is true that Judah is not one of us. Rather, he is a representative of the evil in the world, who betray the trust and do not fulfill promises. Unfortunately, Judah still exist on the earth as long as life remains. a big 10+ and onto my fav list

A penetrating question at the end. The question pierces straight into our heart like a shaft! Can we simply wash our hands and absolve of our guilt like Pontius Pilate? At times we betray Him like Judas. This is a poem that shakes our self complacence, especially in this season of lent. A great write!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your response to this piece. We do betray Him at times, don't we? It sneaks up on us when we aren't looking- complacency is our enemy.

Hey, Susan! Good to tune in and be rewarded by new postings by you. I relate to this poem and like your questions, like that you don’t demonize Judas. Two things come to mind you likely know—from his name, a rendering of Ish-keriot, Judas was one of the twelve from Judea rather than Galilee—though this may have made no difference in his choices. And John’s gospel asserts Judas embezzled from donations given to their ministry. Make a difference? We’re still left with questions. -Glen

Part 5 And, He does not wait for Judas begging forgiveness. The moment Judas speaks, He knows what he speaks and He has no hesitation to forgive him. He knows that to err is human, but it is a devine gesture to forgive. And, we know well, He is divinity in body and soul.

Forgiveness. It is a hard thing for us proud vain humans to do but if we wish forgiveness we must give forgiveness to those who have hurt us. That is a thing I must work harder on.

Part 4 And let us now come to your questions: Is Judas capable of asking to be forgiven? Has Jesus forgiven him? Human beings are animals with power to think. So, Judas thinks, regrets his act, not because it is Him that he has betrayed, but he would now understand that he has betrayed himself. And with all his body and soul, he begs to be forgiven.

You delved deep into the poem, my friend. I swayed back and forth with this question- I can only think that if Judas truly repented, then he was forgiven by Jesus who purposely died to forgive our sins. But it is hard for my finite mind to embrace that infinite love Jesus had for us.

Part 3 But does that regret estop us from repeating the vile act? It doesn’t. What do all these mean? We are all human beings, in flesh and blood, easily enticed.

I so agree with you and I berate myself that I keep repeating the same sin after beginning the day with a prayer targeting that sin in particular. Argh!

Part 2 The answer is wonderfully, very simple: “there is, definitely, a good measure of Judas in me. May be there is an element of Jesus too within us. We do walk our talk often, knowing fully well of the inconveniences that come with it, of the imminent threats. But still, occasionally, we do betray Him, we do! Do we regret our act? We do. Cont, ,

Me too! ! ! ! I found myself thinking Judas was a strange being at first- but the more I thought about him the more I realized to my despair that we are both sinners and we both in our own ways betrayed Jesus. That caught me up and just gave me such pain...

Hi Susan, After many weeks, I have now visited PH. And was it worth the time! Wow! What a poem! Your poem makes one delve deep into oneself asking the same question repeatedly: Judas, who art thou? (Contd)

Thank you Robert- I found the topic of Judas highly troubling the more I thought about him as a human as well as a sinner as well as a betrayer. And then turning my eyes inward brought my thoughts into an area I never considered before- a very uncomfortable area. I know how troubled I was about about Judas and his betrayal and it blew up full blown inside me like I'd been thinking about writing it for months instead of minutes... the cleaning up of the poem took days however. Thank you so much for these beautiful words, Rose Marie!

Robert M Smith..One thought kept at me, gnawing at me, would Jesus forgive Judas? Could or would Judas ask for forgiveness? Round and round the questions revolved..[PH isn't printing my replies in the reply box so I am posting my reply in the comment box and see if it gets printed]
