JOY
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
It is a winter's afternoon
I hear birds chirping around our home
Their happy cooing and chirping
Are like the chatter of joy and happiness;

There are cardinals and robins
Which with their music
Bring forth the illusion
That it is the kiss of spring
And summer's breath is upon us;

The singing and chirping birds break the silence of uncertainty
And it is the merry speech of existence
If merry am I to be in such company
Joyous is my heart
For it is the eager mind of anticipation
That it accompanies;

Nature's creation enthralls us
And we don the working clothes of our creative selves
And joyfully do we spend our time
Either in leisure or work;

And I say to my husband, very dear to me
And my son, dearest of mine, for he is
My creation most supreme
Borne out of love between my husband and I
Dear Hearts, let us live joyously
For there is joy in our living souls
And excessive joy if we are rewarded for our labours.
