Jim Taylor's Passing Poem by Pleasant Dabbs

Jim Taylor's Passing

A man distraught for thirty five
Not months, but years; and yet he thrived
He could have died some years ago
But this his job, he couldn't go

So many words he had to hear
So many friends both far and near
They didn't know where to ‘unload'
With whom to talk...but then it flowed!

He listened, then he calmed and cried
For us, for all, he was our guide
Compassion, trust, great care was giv'n
To those in need, to those still livin'

Some felt unsure about their fate
Was there still hope? Was it too late?
Down deep inside he knew the answer
It's not the heart, it wasn't cancer

But still he knew their lives were shortened
He made them feel oh so important
A time to suffer, a time to fear
"You've got to live! It's not that near

There's time to love, there's time to care
God'll give us time to do our share"
When that time's past and we have to leave
We'll feel fulfilled and we'll receive

A special gift, not six, not seven
But a special place near him in Heaven
