Jewels From Upanishads: 1.2 Share Ere Ye Eat, Covet Not Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

All this the habitat be of Lord—
Whatso moveth in this restles world,
Renounce, share ere ye eat,
Never do thou covet,
Beware, whose be the wealth ye weaselled?

The transliteration of the first verse from Isha Upanishad is given as under:

aum īshā-vāsyam idam sarvam yat kim cha jagatyām jagat |
tena tyaktena bhunjīthā mā gŗdhah kasya svid dhanam || Ishā 1 ||

aum: the monosyllable aum represents the Absolute, Brahman; īshā: by the Lord; vāsyam:is covered/pervaded/habitation of; idam sarvam: all this; yat kim cha: whatsoever; jagatyām: in the universe, world, cosmos; jagat: that moves, is in motion; tena: because of that reason; tyaktena: by renouncing (dattena) , by giving up; bhunjīthāh: shouldst thou enjoy/eat/consume; mā: do not, never; gŗdhah: covet (like a vulture) , lust (not): kasya svid dhanam: any one's wealth, or after all whose all be this? (God's only) .

Two more liberal translations are given as under:

All that the Lord hath in motion set,
Everything He hath made,
Everywhere He doth pervade,
All this world, be His habitat;
Renouncing do thou gain,
Sacrificing, sustain
Covet not, like a vulture,
Let lusting be not thine nature,
Let love of wealth be not thine passion,
Do thou lust no one's possession.

Abode of God ‘tis all around,
Ah, this cosmic world unbound,
And here is His golden rule sound:
Eat but what you may earn, I dare,
And forget not O to share,
Remember, to covet is curse,
Crave not like a vulture, or worse,
But by giving shouldst thou gain,
For, grabbing in greed giveth pain.
