Jawahar Nehru was a famous statesman who devoted his life to India and getting independence from Britain. India is much better as a republic than a British dominion or colony. Nehru lives on through his books, a true man of letters.
Your lovely comments reflect your knowledge about India's history during pre & post independence periods. Thank you, Michael.
Leadership shines through activity. Remembering India's First Prime Minister is great tribute to him and writing such a nice tribute poem is a nice effort given here. This is deeply historical and informative poem..10
Thanks a lot, Pintu ji, for being on this page with a nice review of the poem on Pt. Nehru. Your words are always inspiring.
He will be remembered for his foreign policy that was copied by many Asian, Latin American and European countries.
Yes, I agree with you. He was one of the most prominent leaders of his time who influenced the world a great deal. Thanks for sharing your views in this context, Sir.
This poem is interesting, informative and historical is expression. This gives detail of active leadership of Nehru and this is definitely a great tribute to him. This poem shared here is thoughtful and expressive.10
I am extremely pleased to have received such a wonderful review of this piece on Nehru. Your comments have always been very inspiring. Thank you, Kumarmani ji.
This is an interesting tribute, Rajnish. I know about Nehru only from reading a biography of Mahatma Gandhi. I didn't know he authored many scholastic works. Perhaps I will look out for them. And what do you think Nehru would have thought about modern India?
Thank you very much for reading and commenting on this post. I am sure you would like his writings. Nehru wanted India to come out of the image of a snake-charmers country. He focused on developing infrastructure in this vast country. India has progressed well in scientific, engineering and industrial areas. Nehru would have been proud today. Thanks a lot, Laurie.
Dear Rajnish ji, First of all Kudos for selecting the great Architect of India- Jawaharlal Nehru ji as the subject of your poem. He was not only the first Prime Minister of India but the finest Prime Minister ever. A man of letters with aesthetic sensibilities, a polished human being, who contributed tremendously to the making of modern India. His books and writings are wonderful contributions to the world. With great respect, i salute this great leader. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful poem, Rajnish ji. A full vote for you, Sir. :)
I am glad to know that there are still many takers of what Nehru ji did and the values he stood for in his life. He was one of the tallest figures of India's freedom struggle. His contribution in the post-independence years cannot be brushed aside. Thank you so much, Geeta ji, for sharing your views about this great son of India.
A great tribute and a commemoration of the death anniversary of a stalwart leader.... the first Prime Minister Nehru ji who scripted Independent India's destiny! India felt orphaned on the death of her two great sons.... Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi! Chacha ji should have been a poet too considering the beauty of his language!
Thanks, Valsa ji, for your appreciative comments on this write. More than that, I am so pleased to read your own impression of Nehru ji's leadership and his solid contribution in the post-independence era. He was a great admirer of Urdu and English poetry. After his death, a piece of paper was found on his table on which he had scribbled lines of Robert Frost's poem which reads like 'The woods are lovely dark and deep....'.
Full of information... as biography so twisting of poetry is not necessary though I think mere RHYME would better to take it more easily as verse...... Thanks for sharing.
I agree that I could not give it a proper poetic form. As a matter of fact, I was time bound to start and complete it before midnight of May 27, the death anniversary of Nehru. Thanks for your appreciative comment, Biswas, Sir.
very nice and informative. A nice tribute to a a worthy leader. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for reading this piece and also for a very positive feedback thereon.
Rajnish, as pure information, this piece works, but as verse, it falls flat, mostly because you don't heighten any of the lines with vivid images or figures of speech or even poetic music. There are some American poets (Philip Levine and Charles Simic) who use this plain style but manage to transoform the material into good poetry. You should immerse youself in their poetry so you can improve. If you'd like, check out my new website: jeffersoncarterverse.com Tell me how you like it. Yrs, JC
Very informative poem of India's history. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for your visit and for these kind words of appreciation, Jeanette.
