It's Strange Now (English Sonnet) Poem by Gert Strydom

It's Strange Now (English Sonnet)

(for Annelize)

It's quite strange now to live away from you,
where from you I am a thousand miles gone,
while great old Ray Charles sings the blues true,
but from that rhythm the world has moved on,

while to us both music is something dear
but your own memory still clearly remains,
when he sings it's as if you are near.
I dreamt of a place and time without pains,

but in this severe world it seems distant
as Russia forceful invades the Ukraine
and yet still sincere love remains persistent,
while now all life on earth seems so in vain

but still for their salvation I do pray
and for your own true love on every day.
