It's a gray day today
....a gray and rainy day today
I wonder if it will be
....a gray and rainy day
When her poor battered body
....is buried and forgotten some sorry day
.
She held death at bay
....but not today
.
It's a gray day today
...a gray and rainy day today
I'm glad it wasn't a blue sky day here today
....but it was a bright blue sky day in heaven today
.
She held death at bay
....but not today
.
I pray it will be a gray day that day
....a gray and rainy day that day
When her poor tired and battered body is buried
....under the ground is buried
.

This is a marvelous poem, Susan. This is your most recent one, posted about a half year ago. I miss your wonderful words and hope that you are well. Please come back and share your talent with us again.
It is so difficult to express the feelings of those gray rainy days when a loved one is departing. One wishes to hold on to but but fails against the formidable foe. The experience is all too real to feel and be touched by your poem..al
A gloomy lamenting poem on a dying person well expressed with the weather. Kudos! !
The only true of this life is Death. We all imagine it in our own ways and you did it fantastically.*********
