Your pain and the description of it just left the written page and painfully consumed all that surrounded the reader at that moment. You just took us in with you at that horribly painful time.
I have never read a more vivid and heart rendering poem on the death of a father, full of pain but also a love and memories so deep, they lasts till now as if it were today and will always be with you and also remembered by those who have read this unusually unforgettable poem.
So sorry for your early loss.
Sandra, dear, Sandra, thank you so much for reading this - yes, indeed, it was a very pain filled time - one of way too many, in my life; Loosing both parents much too early just does something to ones heart. I was still pretty young and in Seattle, alone, accept for my parents friends who allowed me to stay with them - i was even going to bring him to their home to recuperate - but then he passed so suddenly and i was the person in charge of everything! ! ! ! ! Overwhelming sorrow - and fear engulfed me - but my God was ever near. HE gave me the strength i needed. Just want to say, that you are a very special poet - and i thank you for your being a friend and for understanding. Feel your empathy - and your compassion. One needs empathy and compassion to write stellar poetry and Sandra Feldman you are full to the brim with those two.. There is nothing better in the world than writing true poetry and you have this gift. Would have come on and commented sooner but have been under the weather again. Hugs, thank yous, and blessings, to you dear Sandra.
