It's Been A Year Poem by Jennifer Birchall

It's Been A Year

Rating: 5.0

They came and took you away that day
I was not ready but did not get a say
All I can think is that someone needed you more
Otherwise they would have left you here, I am sure
I couldn't bring you back no matter how much I cried
I had to learn to live without you being by my side
Doing that is the hardest thing I've ever had to do
Because every part of my life was a part of you too
Yes I have my memories and for that forever glad
But can I have you back please, a year is too long

Forever sad, Dad

A beautiful tribute to someone you loved very much. Nothing ever really prepares us for the loss of a parent and although we know that is the way of things it's still tough to get through. A well written, tender piece that speaks to every childs heart. + 10 Lodigiana xx

Loosing a loved one, especially those closest to you, is always hard. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like a catastrophe parting. Unclear who " they" who took you away are.
