Subrata Ray, labels Wordsworth's poem By The Sea as fragment of the poet's autobiography.The poet in reality was walking with his illegitimate daughter, -Caroline, born of Annette Vallon and and the poet.The scene is the sea-shore of Calais where, Wordsworth, his French mistress and ten-years daughter often enjoyed the beach-walking.In certain -twilight in 1802, the poet's frustration regarding his parentage of the daughter agitated the poet's heart, and he soothed him-self with the image of a divine -atmosphere.
Sudden appearance of God and the poet's heightened imagination, both lead the poet to have a supernatural feelings. The ability of catching the sound of the eternal motion remains only with the saints.The poet's imagination makes him for the time -being a fake saint.
Again in a child the passions of grown -up -man, remain in a dormant -state.In this sense it can not have its shelter in Abraham's heart.
Yet, I must admit that a poet's mind -land is somewhat true, and it often possesses the over-seeing power.
