Isolation Beer Fear Poem by Karen Megson Adams

Isolation Beer Fear

As Friday slowly drags its ass
we're locked up on week three
I'm eating for the sake of it
The fridge keeps luring me

My liver wants its job back
Its had some time to think
The kids are testing every nerve
Driving me to drink

Stuck indoors and distancing
A list of jobs to do
I'll have a beer and make a plan
But one beer turns to two

Keeping busy making space
Every room to sort
The pub seems just a memory
But missed more than than I thought

Jobs all done nowt left to do
Nothing on the list
We have a bit of family time
But drink and end up pissed

Another feast of beer and snacks
Lazing on the sofa
Another month of doing this
We'll look like Marge and Homer

The cat comes in and smirks at me
sarcastic fluffy git
I'm jelous of his social life
I'm sure he's loving it

A glass of wine then. In the bath
A bit of peace for me
who the feck was I kidding
Mum I need a wee

Jokes aside its serious
it has to all be done
Having all this family time
is nice and its been fun

tomorrows still a lockdown
we cant all live in fear
so what else is there left to do
just go and get a beer
