LAST RESPONSE: Finally the conclusion is that she speaks in cold terms of the way science and scientists would handle love and contrasts that handling with her own. It simply needs to exist in the world, in the "present" and that will suffice

This poem goes about LOVE which is my favourite theme in poems. The poetess only wants to tell us, the readers, that love is not to be compared as a scientific subject. Love needs to be understood and it is in the present tense. Vert clear message by the great Poetess

Indeed, the present tense IS absolutely better than the past tense, the present tense makes the poem still be directed to you as the reader, partly of complete, your message has reached me, dear poetess Margaret Atwood!

The poetess appears to be a type of Iyan Rand and her theory of objectivism. Well deserved modern poem of the day.

This is a very sexy and direct approach to the issue of intimate body contact which has no rules or regulations. Through all the wonderful females of my life I have the feeling what this poet means. Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful poem by Margaret Atwood in which she, rather astutely, makes the case that love can not be conflated with science. According to Atwood, it is very much a living, breathing experience in ' the present tense'. that does not have to be continually analysed, ' or washed or cauterized.'

The LAST PART: I cannot define this as a soliloquy, but I must keep indeed the present tense and permit me, please, this last part. Thank you so much for your most valuable advice and my favorit theme: Love. Absolutely, Love is not a profession, genteel or otherwise. Thank you for these valuable words, which I regard as a most important advice. This present tensed poem makes my day, dear poetess Margaret.

FIRST PART: First of all Congratulations upon being chosen as Modern Poem Of The Day, Hurray! It's oft a greatest surprise from my side which poem will be chosen and who the poet/poetess will be. Earlier in time, you had been chosen too by Poem hunter's Organisation, I still remember. Please read the SECOND PART, thank you.
