Brave utterances set aside for deep reflective thought. A forthright, patriotic rendition written from the heart. Remain enriched, Madam.

With weak institutions vulnerable to be exploited by elite state actors, most third world countries and some of the second worlds, continue to witness the rotation of like-minded political predators who have no qualms regulating the masses for poverty.

Is it democracy, when a person elected under the banner one political party switches sides to another party for a few crores of Rupees? Is it democracy if politicians, MPs and MLAs are bikaoo? Up for sale? This is essentially what is happening in India today…

Thank you Sir for reading and commenting on my poem.Your comment made me revisit this poem. 'Democracy as a political system is accepted in many countries of the world. But the question is whether it is followed in true spirit.

The ballot can only be sold if the populace is poorly educated or ill informed. This is a prevalent issue in developing countries and some governments intentionally keep their people illiterate so that they can be manipulated. Your powerful poem have highlighted the issue very well. Thanks Bharati.

Brilliant work Ma'am. I personally feel that it is not a mere a poem yet a very sensible and insightful read that throws light on the chained democracy. I appreciate you bold statement bring in the factual information of Indian Democracy exercised in here. It is really hard to accept the fact that though we boast of Democracy, it is truly not exercised in fact. We always blame those emperors of WEST who ruled us for long year. Ever did we question ourselves for today's' dismay that even after almost 70 years of Independence, we are still a Developing country. Very thoughtful read Ma'am. I tried to depict the same in one of my musings titled Border

A great write. I totally agree. Democracy in true essence, otherwise it's no good. This system must serve people, not the rulers. A powerful voice that needs to be raised in our countries where people are exploited in the name of democracy. A10.

Democracy is the right of questioning why when how and what. But muscle and money in our state perspective, always guide us to acknowledge the fact who dares to question to the state authority is the terrorist. The level is cheap than to give answer of the common people. Here you have done well to make people courageous by raising your voice. It's not any slogan, a poem written by lucid words. A poem that heart speaks loud. Thank you.10+

Thank you very much for reading my poem and giving your valuable opinion on Democracy.I fully agree- -Democracy is the right of questioning why, when how and what.If this right is taken away from people, then it is no democracy. It is Dictatorship.

Time will definitely come when people will realise the mistakes as their conditions are not going to improve in this way. Public is going to shun dishonest politicians who show their faces during election times with tall promises. Nice poem.

Thank you for reading my poem and sharing your opinion.Let us hope that we will get true democracy. We, the people, are real Government. So many things depend on us.There are good people and bad people in all parties. While going to vote, we sometimes may not have a choice, as elections are fought on party lines and we have to choose a candidate fielded by political parties. If one loves his country and a real Statesman, he will support a measure or policy of Government if he feels that this policy is going to benefit people not withstanding his affiliation to a different political party. Here we find Party interest is higher than Public interest.

I share your pain about the decadence of democracy in our country. You have asked very pertinent questions. Let us hope the present difficult times are a passing phase through which people learn more about democratic values to be more responsible about the value of their rights. Well done. (10)

A country's prosperity and strength depend upon its Political System.Prosperity means material prosperity as well as intellectual prosperity.Good governance is very much necessary for material progress, proper utilization of resources, peace and stability, strong defense, relations with neighbors and so many other things. A democratic set up is more congenial for material progress. But this is not happening because of Corruption. For intellectual progress 'Freedom 'is the key factor.Unless one thinks and expresses freely, he can not develop. And democracy allows people that freedom. All conscious citizens should act as guardians of democracy. They should raise their voice against injustice. Thank you for sharing your views on this poem.

My thanks to you for reading and commenting on my poem.Democracy is the best form of Government History tells of the stories of People's Struggle, war and revolutions to attain Democracy. But there has been attacks every now and then to throttle the democratic rights of people.Every conscious citizen should work for protection of people's rights to liberty, equality and justice.

democracy is the most acceptable form of representative government where high civic sense is utilised! it is the duty of a citizen to represent himself in the house of people on behalf of the the people he belongs. do not blame democracy at any cost! we should bear in mind, how to use our power while casting our votes and educate them to use our power wisely- it is the duty of every educated people to educate our fellow men to lit the light of literacy and eradicate the evils prevailed in our society- teach them to ask questions - why this to me? why that to him? do not hesitate to ask questions- otherwise yadha raja thadha praja

Thank you for your thoughtful comment.I agree that in the present scenario democracy is the most acceptable form of Government in spite of its loopholes.Yes, it is the duty of educated and informed citizens to educate his fellow men about the value of ballot and helping them to make wise choice while casting their vote.

In a democratic country election is must and it should be on the basis of human value, not for hooch or money. Dear poetess, you have so nicely depicted this poem in an edifying manner. Last two lines give most importance on democracy and I like to quote these lines...Let the elections be fought for human values Where not ballot, but life counts. Thanks for sharing...10

Thank you very much for your kind words. In India we have the largest democracy and proud of it.Still we ask Do we have democracy in real sense? Is there equality among people? Do all people get justice? Equality only means equal right to vote. The benefits of a democratic set up do not accrue to the poor and deprived people due to corruption at different levels.Yes, it is the duty of every citizen and a moral obligation to work for a corruption free society. Then only we can say that we have a True Democracy.
