Iraq War Syllogism - 24 Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Iraq War Syllogism - 24

24

They are the worst people in the world
It becomes like mantra to be spoken in his head when they come for him
When they submerge him underwater for uncomfortable length of time
When they suspend him from the ceiling and bruise the soles of his feet
When they shock his genitals and he feels lost to the world
Here in this place where they wring the neck of liberty

We are the worst people in the world
We are the best people in the world
Conflicting messages show how unsuccessful the victors were in rewriting history
No one counts on technology to render propaganda useless
I am but a point and a click away from the pictures no decent person should see

And if decent people see such pictures, what will they do?
Will they demand an investigation? Or will they laugh and make dirty jokes about naked dog piles?

Will they try to write this off as the actions of a few bad apples?
This is held tightly - the bride of excuse
They will marry that to their unquestioning respect for the military even when the military is found to have committed terrible, illegal acts
