I was led to your poem via Richard's, and i find it equally interesting and thought provoking. As with his, i can read this two ways. The first being that when a poet cannot write and they are silenced they lose a part of themselves. The second being that, should the hand of a poet be metaphorically bound or broken by another, their words will be used as a weapon to silence the songs of the heart of the oppressor. Sometimes I think too much 🙄 Judy

Judy, thanks so much for stopping by. Both readings that you came to did in fact influence and shape how I eventually came up with this version. I also thought about physical loss (as Richard suggests) and then there was the issue and relationship between the artistic and the commercial. Thanks so much.

M.J., this is such a moving poem. I cried throughout as I reflected on Keith Emerson who committed suicide because he could no longer move his hands to pursue his passion of playing music. Artists of all sorts have been endowed with divine talent. When it's taken away, they become desperate.

Sorry, I missed this poem! Whatever be the storm of thoughts brewing inside, if the poet is not able to move his hands, all the songs in his heart will be frozen inside! Only when we become disabled, we realize the value of each limb. Thanks a lot for the acknowledgement given. Glad I inspired you to write this crisp, meaningful write, Lemon!

Thank you so much, Valsa. Indeed Valsa, you inspired me to see that connection between the hand and the mind and heart and soul of the writer.

I really like this little poem which generates so much thought. Words truly are a mighty sword and often great change is generated from the written and spoken word. Poetry can give great incite and/or a quick snapshot of vision and emotion. No surprise that Valsa inspired you she is such a great inspiration to all poets.
