We have heard about wicked kings
In the ancient past,
Who gathered poor humans
As slaves,
Made them work and slog incessantly,
Without an iota of sympathy or compassion.
But have you heard of
Blood Red Ants?
That willfully infiltrate into
The nest of another Ant species?
They specially targeted
The peaceful, vulnerable, innocent ants!
The Blood Red Ants are cruel.
On entering the new territory,
They first assassinate the queen,
Then, kidnap all the eggs or pupae,
To carry them off to their ant palace,
In order to raise them as their own.
Once, these pupae or eggs are hatched,
The new born ants,
Unaware of their abduction,
Meekly and obediently obey
The orders of their head -
The tyrant - The Blood Red Ant.
These docile ants, work and work,
Like faithful slaves,
Defending their colony of ants,
With no clue, that they were robbed
From their home, in a brutal manner,
Till the end of their lives,
Having learnt about these red blood ants,
We, now know for certain,
From where the wicked human beings
Have learnt to be so nasty and deceitful!
Of course, the little insects like Blood Red Ants
Have taught the big people - many lessons of viciousness.
Very interesting and informative...when the mango tree blossoms in its season I have seen big black ants (carpenter ants as I guess) very often and sometimes big red ants also...I do not know which one your poem refers to... but I'm reminded of those ants now reading your poem...lovely work Geeta...5 stars
Dear Geeta, What a fascinating and interesting poem! So well written, with its life lessons attached to it that capture us and makes us think, why and how can some human tyrants be so similar, and like these ants have murder and dishonesty, as a way of life. Thank you for this lovely gift! Be well, and all the best, Sandra
You have so tactfully inscribed the qualities and works of blood red alike to wicked kings in the ancient past, who gathered poor humans as slaves and made them hard work without rest having no sympathy. The blood red ants are too cruel like king. They abduct the eggs or pupae of other innocents ants which have to work as slave in future. Really it is a beautiful poem of top marks.
Of course, the little insects like BIood Red Ants Have taught the big people - many lessons of viciousness. /// yes, I think it's true that we can learn many terms of our lives from this type small insects also; we have many things to learn from the universe and its creatures
This poem on blood red, anta is, a moral for arrogant human beings. Very interesting poem. It also shows the depth of the poet''s vision co relating the cruel ant's behaviour with the olden times cruel kings who made the poor workers toil without any consideration towards, them Truly great poem.
