Insanity Poem by Eric Niehoff

Insanity

Policing the world
U.S. takes up arms
Never regarding
Whomever they harm

Ulterior motives
Cleverly disguised
Our allies no more
The U.S. despised

The economy’s fragile
Barely recovered
An internal threat
Soon is discovered

A war that is useless
Wasted money spent
Fought overseas
Without Congress consent

Wars of the past
Have given us gain
Selling munitions
No goal to obtain

Now we fight wars
To enforce our ideals
To control prices
And make shady deals

After destruction
A new threat takes power
With every conquest
World relations sour

What would it take
For the nonsense to end?
For troops to be used
Mostly to defend?
